I have held talks in schools, colleges, scout clubs, groups, businesses, and use social media to raise awareness of homelessness and poverty.
You all have made this possible, and you should all be so proud of yourselves. As well as helping those in need, friendships have been build. I for one have met the most amazing people and most of you have become my friends. I love what I do, making a difference, giving hope, changing lives, and here is our NEW LCP SLOGAN thanks to Lisa...
We Listen. We Care. We Provide.
How it all started:
After getting out of bed in the morning on the 24th of August 2016, I made myself a cuppa, as by now many of you know, I love my coffee.
I remember feeling so empty inside.. something/someone was missing..
So many thoughts went wondering around my head, and only one of them stuck, which I then had to act on, so I decided that I wanted to do something good for the community and in memory of Leslie,, homelessness was always close to his heart, so I switched on my Pc, logged on to Facebook, and clicked on create a page.
I sat for a while just staring at the topic “Cause or Community Name”
well I knew it had to be a name that people wouldn’t forget so easily, and even if they only could remember part of it.
The name Leslie had to be included for sure, also the words care packages as that was what I intended to do.. and also let people know, who the packages were for.. so I came up with… “Leslie’s Care Packages for the Homeless” (which has been renamed to LCP Leslie's Care Packages)
After the page had been created, I added some of my friends, who already knew me well.. and I can honestly say, that from day one my friends offered me clothing, also toiletries and food items, as the days went on more and more kind people got in touch with me offering their help and donations. Since setting up, LCPs has attracted a big response from generous people across the West Midlands.
Every day, I made sure that I posted all information, Thank you messages, Pictures of all the lovely donations, and where the items were going on my Facebook page, and I still do to this day.
The charity’s mission is to provide much needed provisions to homeless and other disadvantaged people across the Black country and Beyond.
